Update to mitsuba exporter 0.6

Grab updated exporter from mitsuba exporter 0.6.
Whats new:

  • added bump modifier
  • materials can have textures assigned to most of parameters now (roughness, absorption or scattering coeffcients, etc.
  • possibility to switch microfacet normal distributions: beckmann, ggx, phong, as
  • you can type in mitsuba material presets names for some of surface scattering models (eg. ketuchp, skin1, for sssbrdf, or Au, Al, Cu for metal conductors and so on)
  • added opacity mask – but gives lots of noise so be aware
  • fixed preview material – should update now correctly every time. Previously if preview froze, you needed to restart blender or live without it :/.

mitsuba head nastytank l4d mitsuba sssbrdfΒ And a note about how opacity mask and bump modifier works. As you can see in image below, you need to create Bump Modifier with bump texture, and then point it to material that will have bump map applied. It would make more sense in node material system, but I guess we will have to wait until bretch makes this possible.

Ps. Is someone have idea how to apply modifiers and constraints on export, without destroying scene write comment below or email me. I mean applying modifiers is easy, but how make it only work on export…

    but I have no material presets (Missing Path)
    Blender r40103, mitsuba exporter 0.6 is in …\2.59\scripts\addons_extern\mitsuba\

    Another thing … how can I make the Sky visible?
    Sky is on, it render bluish but the Background is black.

  3. About material presets – it only works with some materials. You have to type in material name – look for mitsuba documentation for material names.
    About sky – it is black below horizon line. If you point camera up it should be ok. Maybe you can post this as feature request into mitsuba – – someting like infinite plane from vray, that covers whole ground, so no dark sky is visible.

  4. Hi there πŸ™‚ wow, great work with the exporter. I have one slight problem though. I’m using Blender 64bit r40186 Trunk build (http://www.graphicall.org/110) and the material preview only shows black. Could you please tell me which version blender I should use with the exporter or if there is something I can do to fix it myself.
